True home comfort goes far beyond what some HVAC companies would have you believe, and farther than what many may even realize. At Leitch Heating & A/C Inc. we are dedicated to new technologies and knowledge that give our customers the choice and ability to be truly comfortable in their homes. From humidifiers to blower door tests, we can provide the products and services that make the difference between a heating and air conditioning system that's "good enough", and a home comfort package that exceeds your expectations.

Ever wake up on a cold winter morning with the worst sore throat ever; have it go away in a couple of hours, then return again the next morning? Maybe you thought you were sick? Or, maybe you realized you needed a humidifier, ran out and got one, and put it next to your bed. Either way, there may be some things you didn't realize. Did you know, with a properly sized and installed whole house humidifier, you may be able to set your thermostat at a lower setting in the winter, while maintaining the same or greater comfort levels, allowing you potential energy savings? Did you realize that while your humidifier next to your bed may be relieving your dry throat, it is doing little or nothing to protect your hardwood floors, trim, and furniture from expansion and contraction damage associated with indoor humidity changes? Did you know that when your sinuses and throat are irritated from excessively dry air, you are more succeptible to airborne sicknesses? Just like a cut is more likely to get infected than unbroken skin, a dry, irritated throat is an invitation for airborne sicknesses to invade your body. So you see, a whole house humidifier may be just the ticket to keep you comfortable when you wake, less likely to become ill, and maybe even give you a much needed break on your utility bills.

While we're on the topic of sickness, let's talk IAQ, or "indoor air quality". We provide many products that can help keep you breathing cleaner air. Now I know that many people have heard how polluted your indoor air can become; and maybe you've even purchased a room air cleaner. For those of you who haven't however,(or just want your floor space back), we're happy to offer you an altenative that will keep you from spending a small fortune to purify the air in just one room. We offer many brands of high efficiency air cleaners that remove particles from the air that are small enough to pass through a regular filter. While it is clear that installing a high efficiency air cleaner will give you cleaner air, it can also keep your system running more efficiently. What's more, they also need changed or cleaned (depending on the model), less frequently than standard filters; leaving you with one less thing to remember. We also have products that address more stubborn pollutants than simple particles; such as viruses and mold, (a known source of allergic reactions and respiratory illness). Mold spores floating through the air, just like most life forms, have one purpose; to find an environment where they can thrive, and then do so. Unfortunately, the environment mold needs to thrive is created in a rather inconvenient spot; the same indoor air handlers we rely on to supply us with air conditioned and heated air. In air conditioning mode, the indoor coil is wet, and has no source of sunlight, the sworn enemy of mold spores, creating the ideal base camp for mold. Once mold has established itself in your air handler, it has hopped onto the "air expressway" of your home; sending spores throughout the entire building to find any other hospitible environments. While we do offer mold remediation for those who already have problems, there is fortunately an easy and relatively inexpensive way to deter mold from ever gaining this stronghold. With UV lights installed inside your air handler or duct system, near the coil, what is otherwise the perfect home & highway for mold becomes a stay at the In-laws'. UV light is also known to kill viruses and bacteria;and where's a better place to provide it than in a component that already circulates all the air in your home? So if you're looking for a way to keep your system running more like new, and your air more healthy, look no farther than us to provide you with the products to make it happen.

Would you want to pay to blow conditioned air outside, cut holes in your ceiling, and breath the insulation from your attic? Well, believe it or not, you may, in effect, be doing just that (minus the visible holes in the ceiling). While today's homes are sealed from the outdoors better than ever before, that isn't always as good as it sounds. While there are obvious energy savings here, the places that aren't sealed well aren't always letting in the best quality of air. For example, many times recessed lighting is not sealed as well as we would like to think. Not only is this a place that our conditioned air gets out, but also a way for unconditioned, fiberglass laden air to get in. Unfortunately, these types of leakages aren't always easy to diagnose. Often times you won't even notice the air coming in or trickling out. Even if you are trying to find them, chances are, you never will. We do however have a tool that allows us to find these leaks. Using a machine that simulates the negative pressure placed on a home during wind gusts (this is when outside air comes in), we are able to find these leaks and suggest possible remedies.
